I had to extract closure to the debate, as it was declining to games of semantics and linguistics riddled with circular reasoning as opposed to a forward moving discussion. Sadly it's very common among debates to target the opponent himself rather than the points the other person is making. I'll let you my readers be the judge on who is guilty there however. I will say my opponent had a good idea in the beginning, and his alternate viewpoint was interesting at first, but I'll let the debate below express the err. Enjoy.
Note: the justification with the text has been replaced to left to right.
The debate was concluded, I gave my friend the last statement. I almost wish I'd hadn't, but no regrets, anything I would have said can be drawn from thought on the reader's part. Unfortunately I think my friend made just enough argument, or at least said the right things, to where those who already agreed with the intolerant pastor in question will retain their opinions, albeit for the wrong reasons. It's more ammo for those who will act with discrimination nonetheless, but hopefully my efforts will have deterred some of this.
In the discussion I mentioned a book, Ethical Intelligence by Bruce Weinstein. I will hopefully finish reading it soon and write a summary, so please check in for that.
As always, I hope you've enjoyed, and thanks for reading.
